Conservative group attacks tax plan without naming Kansas AFP members
Cobb backed the anti tax mailing saying it argues education spending supports the case. Officials say the claim is deceptive because it includes building, special education and transport costs not available for classroom use. They cite base state aid per pupil at 3 863 and a court ruling that the 2 6 billion school funding scheme is unconstitutional. Several groups back a 155 million tax raise to cover rising costs and avoid program cuts.

City street upgrades split to 75-25 for residents

Landscaping a welcome landmark at LAHS campus
Science teacher Bob Hubert won 600 from Wal-Mart's environmental program to landscape the school front and plant three gardens. Students learn about the environment through service learning as LAHS offers a flexible curriculum for nontraditional students. Senior J R Battiest notes the new outdoor lunch area gives meaning beyond a bare space, while teachers see it as potential to keep students engaged.
