Perry Reservoir gates close final week of March

Perry Reservoir near Lawrence nears final gate closure on a $48 million project. Manager Lynn Myers says normal multi purpose pool will reach 891.5 feet with full recreation acreage about 12,500 surface acres, rising to 896.5 feet in normal conditions. Heavy rain left the level around 885 feet, and authorities plan to release water as the Kaw crest subsides.

KU Students Hurt In Saturday Crash

Two Kansas University students remained in Lawrence Memorial Hospital after being struck by a car near 1711 W 19th St. Sherman 18 and Lucas 20 were listed in good and fairly good condition with clavicle and arm injuries respectively. The driver, KU student Jeffrey Lowe 20 of 1918 Stewart Ave Overland Park, told police he could not avoid hitting two pedestrians on a rainy night.
