Ambassador Bryce Arrives in Lawrence for Two Day Visit

Ambassador from Britain Mr Bryce arrives in Lawrence with Prof Macey for two days of events. He will speak at Robinson Gymnasium this evening and at the university chapel tomorrow morning. Distinguished Kansans, including university regents and state leaders, will host him.

Brandeis Refused Original Letters in Ballinger Pinchot Probe

The Ballinger Pinchot committee voted six to three to deny Attorney Brandeis access to the original letters from the Attorney General to the President concerning the Glavis charges. The summary dated Sept 1 1909, two days before the President wrote to Secretary Ballinger, exonerating Ballinger. Brandeis argues the summary was not penned until December. Loyd Howe, formerly at University Book Store, is hanging paper for Wolf's Book Store.

Indiana Democrats Endorse Candidate for U.S. Senate

At the Indiana Democratic state convention in Indianapolis delegates voted to endorse a United States Senate candidate. J. W. Kern led with 303 votes, Thomas Taggart 228, and a third ballot was ordered after Kern signaled to define the nomination while Taggart claimed the party’s desire was for Kern to accept. A riot flared as Marion county and Terre Haute delegates clashed briefly before police separated them.
