Victim of Accident Involving Shotgun Wounds 16-year-old Eudora Boy
Allen Schimmel son of Mr and Mrs W M Schimmel Route 1 Eudora tripped while carrying a 12 gauge single barrel shotgun in a field last evening the gun discharged striking the left elbow. The Eudora high freshman reached his car and drove home before being rushed to Lawrence Memorial hospital where doctors found the elbow bones fractured and the wound dressed. His condition is not believed dangerous but he will remain in hospital for some time.

County Employees Recover Boat From Wakarusa River
Elton Dark and Mike Lamb, county employees, recovered a motor boat from the Wakarusa river near Dutton Bridge after it sank Saturday evening while attempts were made to reach Clifford Thiry, Gus Had, and Albert Hayden. Flood Receding as Wichita River Levels Fall
In Wichita on April 25 both the Big and Little Arkansas rivers continued to drop though rain was forecast. The Little Arkansas fell about one inch per hour since Monday and Sedgwick's stage stood at 23 feet while Valley Center showed similar drops. The Big Arkansas eased about one and a half feet overnight in Wichita. Over 2,000 evacuees remain housed at the forum and in schools and churches with thousands more in private homes. Red Cross and OCD expect several days before most can return home.

Officers from the Douglas County sheriff's office investigated a late evening wreck two miles east of Big Springs on highway 40.
