Parsons Kansas April 25 AP Steward Lyman former Kansas University football captain 1929 was arrested by Sheriff Bill Miller in Oswego on liquor possession charge. He was found asleep in a station driveway with a pint bottle in his pocket and arraigned with a $200 bond. Hearing set for next month. Lyman recently began law practice in Chetopa and was named city attorney there.

Washington April 25 AP Secretary Woodin warned of the impending effective date of the Presidents anti gold hoarding order requiring delivery of all gold to federal reserve banks by next Monday with penalties of a 10000 dollar fine or ten years imprisonment or both. An exception covers gold needed for industry profession or art and certain small holdings including coins and certificates under 100 dollars or rare collector coins. A final public notice program is being sent to post offices and banks to explain the order and penalties.
