22 Years Leader of Tammany Hall Dies in New York
Charles F. Murphy longtime undisputed leader of Tammany Hall died at 5 o'clock this morning in the Brownstone on the East Side. He rose at 8 to begin his day, complained of illness and suffered an acute indigestion attack. Doctor John Hertity, his longtime neighbor, was called for. Murphy's death ends a 22 year era of influence as he planned a major role at the forthcoming Democratic National Convention.
