Record sturgeon catch foils state record attempt in Minnesota
Yvonne Murray and family fished near the Rainy River mouth when a 105 pound sturgeon, about 68 inches long with a 32 inch girth, nearly set Minnesota’s weight record though release prevented confirmation. The rare fish drew a 20-boat audience as Murray wrestled the giant for 45 minutes before it surfaced beside the boat. Murray, with 33 years of fishing experience, called the trip unforgettable and plans to keep photos as a memory of the epic chase.
