KU Employee Award Finalists Named for 1976 Honors

Ten Kansas University staff members were named finalists for the 1976 Employee of the Year Awards. The winners will be announced at the Employe Recognition Program at 1 30 p m Tuesday in the Kansas Union Ballroom. Centennial teacher wins SPARK arts award in Kansas

Sharon Stenersen fifth grade teacher at Centennial School Lawrence will receive 500 for innovative multimedia student projects. Students created a music set slide show using etching and painting on developed film tied to themes How America Began What Would the World Be Without Magic and Our Wonderful Country. Court Keeps Lid On Campaign Funds

The Supreme Court refused to allow the Federal Election Commission to pay out more than 1.4 million dollars in matching funds until Congress and President Ford agree on a revival bill. The decision pressures Ronald Reagan and six Democratic candidates as Ford may veto the measure and as party leaders seek renewed funding to support campaigns.

KPL Jeffrey Energy Center tour highlights billion-dollar project

About 40 city officials and newsmen visited the Jeffrey Energy Center under construction north of St. Marys. Officials projected a $370 million first unit, rising to $1 billion by 1984, with possible further expansion to 1990 1995 costing up to $1 billion.

Volkswagen to build plant in United States

VW announces a 200 million plant to assemble Rabbits in the United States with up to 200000 cars a year and 5500 workers. UAW president Woodcock welcomes the decision and notes strong supplier jobs. Possible sites include Columbus and Brook Park Ohio or New Stanton Pennsylvania. Ohio Governor Rhodes offers to help and Ford and GM respond with cautious comments.
