Kansas boards weigh changes after tenure repeal
KASB officials say repealing teacher tenure allows districts to dismiss staff without lengthy hearings but urge caution. The law relaxes licensing for career and technical education and STEM teachers, permitting hiring of noneducation degree holders with five years related work, and out-of-state licenses if tests are passed. Local boards, unions, and licensure experts should balance protections while pursuing staffing flexibility.

Budget debate on state workers pay and longevity bonuses

Senate and House leaders highlighted stalled raises, as officials foresee improved revenue may prompt action after spring break.
