Ford backs B1 bomber program in Indiana rally

President Ford stated in Evansville Indiana that the United States will proceed with building the B1 supersonic bomber at an estimated cost of 21.4 billion dollars. Kansas Senate approves mail voter registration bill

The Kansas Senate approved by 33 to 2 a measure allowing voter registration by mail and sent it to the governor. Wage talks stall in Rubber Workers strike

Cleveland AP reports wage talks between United Rubber Workers and Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. stalled over major wage issues with a negotiator noting a weekend break to reassess. The union seeks 1.65 dollars per hour in year one of a three year contract versus the industry's 1.15. Sixty thousand workers struck 47 plants across 21 states.
