Wal-Mart and city settle after long dispute on Lawrence site
Wal-Mart and GWak Land Investments reached a settlement with the city of Lawrence halting seven pending lawsuits over the Sixth Street and Wakarusa Drive site. The plan caps total commercial development at 128 000 square feet with a 99 990 square foot store plus 6 500 square foot open air garden center and includes a two thirds share of traffic signal costs. If approved by the city commission and judge Michael Malone the lawsuits will be put on hold and a new planning process begins within six months.
