Solar project hearing eyed near Lecompton Stull Solar Farm proposal seeks permit
Douglas County leaders move to review a conditional use permit for the Stull Solar Farm on a 12.6 acre portion of a 117 acre parcel south of Lecompton. Stand-your-ground hearing delayed for teen charged in fatal shooting
A 17-year-old boy, Derrick Del Reed of Lawrence, facing one felony count of first degree murder for the March 18 fatal shooting of 14-year-old Kamarjay Shaw in the 1300 block of Maple Lane, had his self-defense immunity hearing postponed. The hearing, set for March 28 after Reed’s March 21 first appearance, was continued at defense request with no opposition from prosecutors.

Longtime Lawrence moped driver dies after crash
Tim Easum aged 57 known as Toad died after a crash at West 23rd and Alabama in downtown Lawrence. Police say a car struck his moped around 7:30 am last week. Easum delivered meals and items to local businesses and was a familiar figure in the downtown barber shop scene. Wes Smith raised funds via GoFundMe to support Easum’s family.
