Faith group not to dictate justice council agenda
Douglas County commissioners told two Justice Matters members the newly formed Criminal Justice Coordinating Council should decide its own needs and membership. Justice Matters urged adding a race and criminal justice expert and hiring an outside consultant to explore jail diversion options. Commissioners noted outside consultants already involved in the 19 month review, with two KU professors, urging time for the council to digest findings before micromanaging. The next meeting is at 1 a.m. Tuesday in the County Commission chamber.
