Area woman overcomes adversity to become Ms Wheelchair Kansas
Leavenworth resident Bridgid Schwilling 43, who has cerebral palsy, won the Ms Wheelchair Kansas title in Topeka. After health issues cost her a substance abuse counselor job in 2012, she dropped more than 50 pounds through pool workouts and embraced her platform Finding a Purpose through Adversity. She now promotes resilience with her service dog Grady and a statewide message that adversity can be celebrated.
