Linwood man indicted in 2010 deputy assault case in North Lawrence
A federal grand jury indicted 27-year-old Joshua D. Sexton of Linwood on charges he assaulted a deputy U.S. marshal during an October 2010 incident in North Lawrence. He faces up to eight years in prison if convicted. Sexton was arrested Oct. 28, 2010, on Locust Street on suspicion of parole violation from a 2005 Leavenworth County case for aggravated indecent liberties with a child. Federal prosecutors cite a prior Hibbs case involving Sexton while he was absconding. Two Union Pacific railroad crossings north of Lawrence remain closed for half a day for maintenance, with a local detour. North 1900 Road and North 1800 Road closures affect traffic. North 1200 Road south of Eudora remains open after delays to a planned closure.
