In Saigon AP reporter John T Wheeler was commended for helping a wounded American adviser under heavy Viet Cong fire near Thang Binh. Wheeler abandoned his gear to carry the man through trench lines, escaping the siege as government forces retreated.
Dolph C. Simons Jr. publisher of the Lawrence Journal World chaired all Tuesday round-table sessions at the ANPA convention in New York. He said publishers are optimistic about the future and that 1965 should outperform last year, which was the best yet. Simons also serves on ACEJ committees and ACEJ met on Sunday.
Kansas State University sophomores Stanley Husted and Ronald Keys will conduct stored grain insect research on a National Science Foundation grant. The show, open to amateur and professional artists, will feature the Lawrence High Band providing music.

Dr Jones and Wilson will retire from the Lawrence Board of Education this August after long tenures. They will be replaced by Mrs Gladys Six and James Paddock. Wilson, director of dormitories at Kansas University, has served on the board since 1953 and has two daughters. Dr Jones has served since 1957 and has three daughters. both are former board presidents.
Miss Esther Bronson leaves Lawrence Memorial Hospital to become public health nurse consultant at a new handicap clinic in Children’s Mercy Hospital Kansas City. Administrator Rodger Johnson announced the departure and said LMH will begin seeking a new nursing director immediately. Bronson joined LMH in 1961 from KU Medical Center where she supervised outpatient services.
