No Clues Found In KU Burglary
Kansas University police said they have no clues in the theft of more than $1,000 from two Murphy Hall offices. Cash, checks, and a cash register were taken from the University Theatre box office and Fine Arts office, with no forced entry marks observed. Amounts include 42 dollars in cash, 92.90 in checks, and a cash register worth 893.86, plus 31.40 in currency and 2 from a coffee fund drawer.

Five men charged after Cuba trip swap thefts
Five men were arrested by the FBI on return to the United States on charges of stealing transportation for their trips. Leonard Oeth and David Healy face kidnapping and coercion counts tied to forcing pilot Woodruff Mead to fly them to Cuba on April 13. The other three men are charged with stealing the 58-foot shrimp trawler Teresa and Julia from Key West and sailing it to Cuba on April 14.

Wreck Near Here Injures Two Youths
Two teenagers were injured in a Friday one car accident on Armstrong Road half a mile south of Lawrence. Driver James Alan Baker 16 of Route 2 sustained head and nose injuries while passenger Wayne Jones 14 of Manhattan had nose and mouth injuries. Neither was hospitalized as Baker’s car hit a road hole skidded off the road and overturned into a ditch.
