Gov Signs Bills Expanding Property Assessment and Research Foundation
Kansas Governor John Anderson signed 10 bills and vetoed two as part of a flurry of actions. The measures include raising property assessment to 30 percent of actual value for tax purposes and creating a state research foundation to promote pure and applied research with directors from the governor’s office, regents, KU, KSU, industry and agriculture. He vetoed a labeling bill for out of state meat as imported, citing vagueness and late introduction. The session also saw amendments to the consumer loan act and several appropriations for state facilities and hospitals.
