Police battle ends with officer dead and chief wounded in Marlow
In Marlow Oklahoma April 20 a policeman J R Hill died from a volley fired by three gunmen who escaped in a commandeered automobile. Norton Kansas April 20 All was quiet in the Sunday blue law controversy at Almena despite a threatened court battle test legality of Sabbath day business activity beyond motion pictures. Payroll Bandits Use Red Pepper to Blind Victims
A trio of armed men in Dallas blinded three department store workers with red pepper, stealing a payroll satchel worth about 7000 dollars. The victims, W. E. Kerns George Swartz and Henry Weil, had been driving to streetcar barns to cash checks and collect on accounts when the robbers rammed their car and pepper was sprayed into their eyes. Swartz and Weil were pulled from the vehicle and Weil was struck with a pistol as the gang escaped with the payroll.
