Tornado devastates Brownsville Missouri area

Advices report a late afternoon cyclone hitting Brownsville Missouri causing swift, deadly destruction. Two story brick businesses tossed aside, many homes crushed, and at least seven killed. Disabled Schooner Incident Near San Francisco

The steamer Orizaba picked up a fifteen ton schooner with Chinese baggage and merchandise in a damaged state. Abandoned during a late gale, all hands were lost after departing Montoria with fifteen Chinese passengers bound for Southern California.

Debate over territorial delegate qualifications and polygamy stance

Mr Calkins of Indiana closed the debate arguing the House can set territorial delegate qualifications. He urged polygamy must end and that reform comes from a universal civilized world. A party-line vote rejected Cannon’s seat 79 to 123 with a few crossovers. resolution denying Cannon or Campbell seating was adopted and the House adjourned.

Huge canal scheme cuts toward Tunis shores
