Four inmates escape Kansas jail in Ottawa County breakout
Four prison inmates escaped from the Ottawa County Jail in Minneapolis, Kansas, after overpowering guards amid a broken water line. Two men, Santos Carrera Morales and Eric James, remained at large Wednesday night and were deemed armed and dangerous. One escapee, Drew Wade, 21, was apprehended in North Platte, Nebraska, after driving a stolen minivan and turning himself in following a call from his father. Wade traveled about 240 miles from the jail. the other two escapees were captured earlier or later, with one surrendering at the Nebraskan town.

Escape of 59 year old sex offender from Lansing Facility
Corrections officials report Gary Leslie Furthmyer escaped Wednesday from Lansing Correctional Facility where he was doing a steam plant job. Furthmyer, 5 foot 9, 185 pounds, brown hair and blue eyes, known alias Frank Schell, is serving six to 25 years for indecent liberties with a child and aggravated failure to appear. He has prior escapes in 1988 and 1993 and parole violation in 2005. Call 911 or 913-727-3235 with information. The escape is under investigation.
