Kansas supreme court hears predator law challenge in sex case

An attorney urged the Kansas Supreme Court to tighten standards for declaring criminals violent sexual predators. The case centers on Michael Crane, jailed for past sex crimes and later deemed a predator under the 1994 act allowing indefinite confinement after release. Prosecutors argue Crane shows likelihood of future offenses. defense says he can control impulses and had mental health treatment in prison. The court could rule by June 2.

New principal named at Cordley Elementary School
