Kathryn Bricker Named Engineering Exposition Queen

Bonner Springs sophomore Kathryn Bricker was chosen queen of KU's 49th Engineering Exposition held at Learned Hall. Attendants Shary Stafford and Cheryl Mehan, both juniors, joined her as royal figures during the two day event entitled Ideas Into Reality. Thousands expected to visit exhibits including a teaching machine and a nuclear reactor with public tours and a Sunday awards banquet in the Kansas Union.

Two Parked Cars Hit by Motorist

Lawrence police report a car driven by Melvin D. Kaufman 27 of 408 Yorkshire Dr struck two parked cars in front of 2426 Princeton Blvd. He said he lost control. The Swearingen car and Weltmer car were damaged as well. Police listed damages of 545 490 and 115 dollars. Nine other minor accidents were investigated on Thursday.

Two car crash damages listed at KU service drive

At 1 16 p m Thursday a two car collision on the Kansas University Maloft Hall service drive caused 250 in damage. KU traffic and security officers report no injuries. Drivers were Alan Hansberry 21 Overland Park and Barbara Ayres 27 Idaho Falls Idaho.

Two Cars Stolen, Both Found, One Without Wheels

Two thefts on the KU campus ended with one car recovered and another left partly disabled. Raul R. Flores’s Chevrolet was stolen from Hillcrest Shopping Center and found in Ottawa with wheels and tires removed. Perry D. Ross’s 1727 West 24th Street vehicle, taken from the O zone parking lot, remained missing as of Thursday morning with the wrecker unable to reach it due to rain. Three other thefts reported at Pearson Hall and Templin Hall involved wallets and a tackle box.

Water ski times set at Lone Star Lake this summer
