Hiring own providers enhances home care
Washington AP reports that Medicaid recipients using the Cash and Counseling program to hire their own aides for bathing, eating and housework showed higher satisfaction. In Arkansas the experimental group reported fewer unmet needs and higher life satisfaction, with no increase in health problems or accidents. The study, in Health Affairs, notes three states participate and further research is planned.
