Kansas University's football squad held its second spring scrimmage as clouds gathered. Forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies with a high near 70 and a 40 percent chance of storms, dropping to 55 at night with additional rain chances.
Officials in Baghdad rejected a UN plan to sell up to 2 billion dollars of Iraqi oil over 180 days to fund humanitarian aid. Thousands protested nationwide as Saddam's regime denounced the Clinton administration. The Revolutionary Command Council backed the protests and parliament approval was not scheduled. Oil prices fell on the prospect of Iraqi crude entering world markets.

Hemenway aims to learn about operations and greet staff in their workplaces. He notes the move from Kentucky after 21 years and looks forward to permanently serving KU once tenure is granted later in the week with a Faculty Senate speech at Spencer Art Museum.
Senator Bob Dole acknowledged a misstep during NBCs Meet the Press after questioning whether Bill Clinton was a real president. He recalled past campaign mistakes and defended his cool under pressure as the show taped at Ruppenthal Middle School amid a Super Bowl bet.
President Clinton urged Congress to shield welfare reform a targeted middle class tax cuts and a crime bill preserving the assault weapons ban from GOP ideas. He backs work requirements college tax deduction and $80 billion in spending cuts. Senate returns April 24 House a week later.
