Legislators return to Topeka for a nine day session starting April 26 to fix an $80 million error in the school funding bill and finish work on the state budget higher education foster care tax cuts and a bill allowing 18 year olds to obtain concealed carry permits.
City staff found most downtown businesses face a special rate structure and an audit shows about 79 percent of 150 businesses are billed at incorrect, likely too-low rates. Errors may have built up over decades. a plan to study and revise the rate method was presented to the City Commission.
