Med Center bids please KU planners

Bids for the final major package of the Kansas University Medical Center project were opened in Topeka. J E Dunn Construction Co of Kansas City submitted the base bid of 7.95 million with seven alternatives raising the total to 8.29 million. The bids show competitive, accurate pricing and enable rapid project progress, said coordinator Max Lucas.

Severe storms sweep Kansas with tornadoes and high winds

Tornadoes ripped through two Kansas towns Wednesday evening while high winds knocked out power and shattered windows in Topeka and Lawrence. By Thursday morning storms brought light rain, with record warmth earlier in the week and cooler weekend forecasts as 60 mph winds and marble sized hail affected several areas.

Tax deadline looms with heavy rush to file
