Fire devastates Parshall and opera houses in Trrosvintz
A 3:30am blaze in Trrosvintz, Pa destroys the Parshall house and opera house and damages the Brunswick hotel and Watsons stables. Loss estimated at 150000 with one fireman hurt and a missing colored cook believed dead. The Brunswick, owned by Senator Roberts, is largely insured and may be rebuilt with Roberts managing reconstruction.

Barraro New York April 14 The First National Bank has closed its doors. A large number of drafts drawn by livestock dealers and drovers on the Fourth National Bank on the 4th were dishonored in New York yesterday. The extent is not yet known but expected to be large, with many cattle dealers affected as they sought payment for stock sold.

Governor appoints judge in Sixth District at Port Scott
The governor named C. O. French of Port Scott to fill the Sixth Judicial District seat left by the late D. H. Lowe. The Republican State Central Committee will meet in Topeka on April 27 at 4 p.m. In Selma, a report says forty masked men, mostly white, seized two negroes Henry Ivy and Sim Ackoff from a guard at Brown's Station and fled. Ivy was found hanged nearby. Ackoff’s body is missing. Ivy confessed to involvement in the murder of an elderly man named Messenger, bringing the total five men hanged for that crime.
