Suspect questioned in seven Gillham Park stranglings
Kansas City police questioned a 22-year-old man as a potential suspect in the seven strangling deaths linked to Gillham Park since September. No charges yet, spokesman said, and no details disclosed. The latest victim, Michelle Mitchell, 22, was found April 5 in the park. All victims were black women with ties to prostitution or drugs. A composite sketch had been released but the man questioned was not arrested due to the drawing. Police noted similarities across the cases and said a break came from information from a woman who drove with Mitchell and the suspect shortly before her death. Proceeds from KU Rock Chalk Revue totaled about thirty thousand dollars for United Way in Douglas County.

February passenger traffic at Kansas City International Airport declined about 32 percent from a year earlier, but improved from January’s near 33 percent drop.
