County leaders weigh fate of 1105 acre solar project
Douglas County commissioners prep for a Saturday vote on a conditional use permit for the 159 megawatt Kansas Sky Energy Center. The 1,105 acre site lies north of Lawrence, near the Lawrence Regional Airport. The project is a joint venture of Savion Evergy and Shell owned Savion. The plant would be built owned and operated if approved and could power about 30,000 Kansas homes annually.

KU West 11th Street makes way for safer bike lanes
A $4.2 million upgrade on West 11th Street between KU campus and downtown Lawrence will shave 4 to 5 feet off the steep grade while adding buffered bike lanes, ADA sidewalks, better lighting, and updated water and sewer lines. The three phase project aims for substantial completion by early 2025 with phases timed around KU commencements and fall class start.
