Lawrence man arrested on suspicion of vehicle burglary on KU campus
A 34 year old Lawrence man, Matthew C. Reynard, already on probation for a downtown break in, was arrested on suspicion of burglarizing a vehicle near the Kansas University endowment association Thursday evening. He took a cell phone and its SIM card and remains jailed on a 2500 dollar bond. Reynard has a long Douglas County record including five theft convictions and prior probation.

Fatal single-vehicle crash claims 68 year old woman
A 68 year old Lawrence woman died in a one car crash south of Lone Star Park on U S Highway 56 in Douglas County. Deputies say she was westbound at high speed, airborne after hitting a pasture driveway, and ejected through a window. She was not wearing a seat belt and the body was found about 30 yards from the wrecked 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass. The identity will be released after family notification.

City weighs no parking zone on Hilltop Drive
City commissioners will study a proposed no parking zone on the west side of Hilltop Drive between Harvard and Oxford roads. If approved the ban would run from 7 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday. The Traffic Safety Commission last month endorsed the move after a resident cited difficulty backing out of her driveway amid on street parking. A second neighbor, however, fears loss of on street parking.
