An explosion at the White Eagle Oil refinery near Augusta Kansas killed two workers, 23 year old Warren Bauny and 24 year old Howard McElhaney, and injured several others. Mexican Bandits Hit American Mine Owner Second Time

Three Prisoners Escape From Nowata Jail
Three prisoners escaped from Nowata county jail last night overpowering the jailer and taking a car. Wal lace Adkins, a Kansas bank robbery suspect with a 20 year manslaughter sentence, led the breakout along with Fred Hemphill, sentenced to three years for manslaughter in Roscoe Register’s death, and Richard White, held on a weapon charge. Adkins had been convicted recently in the slaying of Arthur Igo at South Coffeyville.
