Free replacement trees offered to curb invasive ornamental pears
Kansas residents near Kansas City and Topeka can remove ornamental Callery pear trees this April and May and receive a free replacement tree through Deep Roots KC. The program includes a Topeka site for the first time, with events in Lee's Summit and Lenexa. Kansas Forest Service experts will advise on native options like serviceberry, redbud, and oaks to support butterflies and moths and local wildlife.
