Man attacks nurse then patients at psychiatric facility
A 33 year old man Alberto Serrano attacked a nurse Alda Ellington and two female patients at Savannas Hospital Port St Lucie while being processed. Ellington died and two patients were injured one serious. Serrano faces murder and attempted murder charges.

Researchers map genetic code of strep bacteria in breakthrough
Oklahoma City report says scientists have completed the DNA sequence of Streptococcus pyogenes, the germ behind strep throat, rheumatic fever and necrotizing fasciitis. The map could speed development of new antibiotics and vaccines, though experts caution vaccines are not yet proven. The work, published in PNAS, involved five years of mapping led by University of Oklahoma microbiologist Joseph Ferretti and drew comment from CDC expert Dr. Richard Facklam.
