Six members of Wamego high school grain judging team scored 1,236 points to win the ninth annual contest held by Liberty Memorial high school Ag club. Bridge at Buck Creek Damaged by Fire
A wooden crossing bridge over the Union Pacific tracks near Buck Creek caught fire this afternoon and was badly damaged. Charles Mull Buck Creek section foreman notified the chemical car of the Lawrence fire department. Chief William Reinisch attended the scene. The chemical was used but the fire had gained headway. Mull signaled a westbound freight and locomotive water helped extinguish the blaze. Damage estimate unavailable.
