Royals GM says bigamy claim aside Royals keep Howard in mix

KC manager Bob Boone swatted down rumors that he married David Howard to block Jay Bell from the Royals roster. Howard, 30, filled in at second base in the home opener after Jose Offerman’s injury, delivering a go-ahead eighth inning single and flawless defense while the Royals navigated a 6-5 win over Baltimore. Howard’s versatility keeps him in the lineup as Offerman heals, with Bell joining from Pittsburgh last off-season to bolster the infield.
