Washington April 8 AP Rep Bankhead of Alabama announced a plan for a special joint congressional committee to investigate the Akron airship disaster and assess the role of airships in military use. The panel would include five members from each house and Senate, with support from Vinson McClintic and Senator Kin. Also recovered off New Jersey coast was Lt Col A F Masury, a guest officer aboard the Akron, identified from papers, bringing recovered fatalities to three. The Akron disaster remains linked to 70 missing crewmates.

Drowning Reported As KU Student Vanishes In Kaw River
Carl Cummings a graduate student from Washington and based at the University of Kansas was reported drowned when a canoe with two other students overturned in the Kaw River opposite the first jetty on the north side near Lawrence. Police and rescue teams were dispatched after witnesses said the others clung to the overturned craft and swam to shore while Cummings disappeared.

Mutual Life Savers Boys Save Each Other in Missouri River
Kansas City April 8 AP Paul Bright ten and Elmer Lisen bee eleven saved each other from drowning in the Missouri River after Paul slipped from a dike 150 feet into the water. A tug pulled Paul to safety and Elmer, losing balance, grabbed a wire and held on until Paul ran three blocks for adult help to complete the rescue.

Three men James Scott Jr Kenner Myers and Donald Harding were bound over for trial on first degree murder charges following an arraignment in Justice Springer s court.
