Lawrence Memorial Hospital oncologist Dr. Sherri Soule informs Linda Bost that the cancer has returned during an office visit, and a second breast cancer is found later that year. She endures lumpectomy, radiation, and ongoing oral therapy while prioritizing family, faith, and a simplified garden transformed into a blue heron sculpture, choosing hope and humor despite setbacks.

CETE Faces Test Cancellations After KU Fiber Cut
The KU based Center for Educational Testing and Evaluation ran online state assessments for Kansas and Alaska districts and other states. A March 29 fiber cut cut Internet to KU servers including CETE tests, delaying Alaska Measures of Progress tests and prompting Alaska to seek a new evaluation starting 2017. Marianne Perie lamented online testing cancellation and CETE and Alaska officials plan contract changes as they assess impact.

CETE expands contracts as Kansas growth continues
Marianne Perie of the KU CETE says contracts with multiple states including Kansas and several research grants will fund staff expansion. CETE reconfigured its system over the weekend to speed school connections and reported 12 000 students testing simultaneously with no problems. Kansas Education Department officials noted tests were inaccessible last week but restored by Monday. On KU campus, websites and Internet access were restored in phases, though Green Hall and the engineering complex landlines remained down and not expected to be repaired until Monday.
