City Spruces Up Centennial Park in Lawrence

Centennial Park in Lawrence receives about 20 000 dollars in improvements as part of a 55 000 dollar annual park program. Completion of landscaping and equipment is expected by spring 1962.

Construction Starts on Douglas County State Bank Building

Preliminary work begins on a new one story bank at the northwest corner of 6th and Ky Streets in Lawrence. The $250000 facility will feature black glass on the Ninth Street side and two drive-in facilities with space for 45 cars. Chester Jones says the building will ease congestion and expand operating space as Lawrence residents await completion by December 1.
