Kansas women's rowing posted five wins in seven races against Kansas State on the Kansas River despite 15 to 25 mph winds. The first-ever spring regatta versus a Big 12 opponent featured shortened 1,000 meter races due to choppy water. Kansas coach Rob Catloth noted the weather disrupted plans as K State, in its first varsity season, claimed the Varsity Eight and Freshman Eight on the shortened course. The Jayhawks head to another race against Iowa at Burcham Park at 8 a.m.

Lawrence High girls swim team placed second among 17 teams at the Olathe South Invitational. Kim Miller won the Lions’ only event, clocking 1:00.06 in the 100-yard butterfly. Caitlin Standish set a school record in the 100 backstroke with 1:02.66 to finish second and qualify for state. Blue Valley Northwest led with 246, Lawrence had 182, Shawnee Mission East 163. Christina Schnage was 12th in the backstroke with 1:08.68.
