White House Easter Egg Roll scaled back for troop families
Citing security concerns the White House will close the annual Easter Egg Roll to the public and hold a smaller event for children of active duty and reserve troops. About 12,000 military families will be invited on April 21, through the Defense Department, far fewer than the usual 40,000. Fleischer said the move honors service members, their families and children who have not seen their fathers. The WWII relocation to the National Zoo is noted as a prior example.
