Allied Pilots Association leaders in Arlington Heights vote 12 to 6 to recommend a tentative contract to American Airlines 9,300 pilots. The deal would deliver about 9 percent raise through 2001 plus stock options and would phase out the two tier wage scale within four years.
Financially troubled Trans World Airlines owed airports in San Francisco and Dallas a total of 1.2 million. It wired 1 million to San Francisco International Airport to settle the tab and arranged 200,000 for Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, about half of which was past due.
