Washington The House Appropriations Committee cut 25 percent from President Eisenhower’s requests for new Commerce Department funds. The panel recommended 353,685,060 in new appropriations for the department and related agencies for the next fiscal year, $217,827,940 below the President and $68,950,076 under current year totals. The measure, the sixth annual commerce appropriation this year, reflects large overall savings and includes $65,251,000 of balances canceled in the War Shipping Administration Work fund.

Clayton Wyatt 71 longtime editor and owner of the Valley Falls Vindicator died suddenly from a heart ailment Thursday in a Topeka hospital. He was born June 1885 in Lawrence and began his paper career in 1908 at the Oskaloosa Independent. Wyatt moved to Valley Falls in 1923 becoming publisher. he served as postmaster 1935 to 1955 and then devoted full time to his newspaper. Funeral 2 p.m. Saturday at the Valley Falls Methodist Church with burial at Valley Falls Cemetery. Rev. Mall and Rev. Mulikan to officiate. Survived by widow Ethel Wyatt. daughter Mrs. Mararies Nauheim of Manhattan. brother Early Wyatt of Salt Lake City Utah.

Weather permitting an electric service interruption is set for one hour starting 4 30 a m Sunday in Southwest and West Lawrence plus rural customers in Southwest and West Douglas County.
