Kansas City voters pick a full slate of officers led by Mayor and city officials as two tickets of Evans and Brown contend. In nearby Krmen City, residents vote to form a first Commission Government with Mayor Commissioner contenders Guyer and Porter. Women have shown strong interest in the government process.
Geo Frankenhouser, serving a life sentence for taking part in a Great Northern train robbery in Montana in 1907, attempted to escape at Fort Leavenworth on April 5. He was caught in the corridor after sawing a bar from his cell door. the saw and incomplete tool were recovered.

Charles Achning died at his home in Lawrence at 1 a m today. Born July 22, 1822 in Sterberg Germany he helped found Eudora Kansas and moved to Lawrence in 1865. He operated the Achning Hardware store and is survived by three daughters and his widow.
