Kansas Senate approves autism insurance for certain children
The Kansas Senate approved a bill requiring insurance coverage for applied behavior analysis up to 1300 hours annually for children under six and 520 hours for ages six to twelve. The measure applies to plans before 2010 and only to larger employers until 2016, aiding about 750 of more than 8,000 Kansas children with autism. Advocates called it progress amid flaws and licensing concerns, with Gov. Brownback set to act.
