Wakeeney Kansas Curt Bender resigns as Trego County sheriff after it became public that the Kansas Bureau of Investigation is probing him. The KBI inquiry details remain undisclosed and authorities searched his home March 25. Bender says he is innocent and confident he will be vindicated. Chad Mann to handle duties as Undersheriff. replacement to be chosen by the Democratic Party and Sebelius.

Kansas Senate on a 27-13 vote approved a bill to place some simple drug possession offenders into community based treatment rather than prison.
