Minnelli stepmother sues Liza over elder care and home
In Los Angeles a 94 year old stepmother of Liza Minnelli sues the performer for elder abuse and breach of contract claiming guaranteed housing in Vincente Minnelli's will. Rare Stradivarius collection offered to New Jersey orchestra
Newark AP The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra could buy rare Stradivarius and Guarneri del Gesu violins and other instruments valued at 50 million dollars for half price if it raises 25 million by June 30. Philanthropist Herbert Axelrod and wife Evelyn Miller Axelrod propose funding 15 first violin seats from a 43 instrument collection, plus a Stradivarius cello for the principal cellist and select lesser antiques for second violins. They seek investors to grant 10 year exclusive use while the orchestra raises funds to buy the instruments outright, potentially drawing a top conductor candidate as music director Zdenek Macal departs.
