Two Lawrence High School students Gwen Altic and Phil Anderson earned I ratings at the local festival qualifying for the State Music Festival in Dodge City and Emporia. Anderson with a cello solo and Altic with a piano solo led the honors as 3,500 northeast Kansas students performed across 677 pieces.

County Home Discussed At Douglas Health Council Dinner
The Douglas County Health Council will hold its annual dinner at 6 30 p m April 20 in the Hotel Eldridge Crystal Room. A panel of local and state officials will discuss the proposed county convalescent home for the aged and its funding. Construction is two to three years away and no money is budgeted yet.
