Bloody clash at Fort Worth as strikers fire on train

Desperate riot in Fort Worth Texas with 1000 strikers and sympathisers in the yards. A freight train was ambushed and guards shot. Police officers Tulford Townsend and Smeed killed and three strikers dead or mortally wounded. Strikers vow continued resistance. mob forms to threaten railroad offices.

Militia Opens Missouri Pacific for Freight Traffic

Parsons Kansas April 8 The first regiment of Kansas militia peacefully opened the Missouri Pacific for freight traffic today. Trains are being sent out under guard, with 206 strikers paid off and 93 dismissed. The men are described as well drilled and orderly, and shops expected to reopen fully by Monday. Weather and surrounding towns report trains resuming, with Atchison area receiving damages coverage and Governor Martin noting the strike end approaches.

Strikes, Snow Halt Freight as Prisoners of Labor Tangle Rail

In East St Louis the strike of transfer men halted freight to depots, while switch engines moved in yards. A heavy snow began at noon and crowds around Relay depot thinned. In Kansas City the Missouri Pacific ran trains with some strikers returning to work though not confirmed as Knights of Labor. About half the usual workforce remained idle. In Prrissora thirty three workers at Johnson and Davis cigar factory struck for five cents per thousand cigars, aiming to join the Knights of Labor. In Wasameron Nationals lost to Metropolitans two to six.

Railroads settle disputes bill moves through House

Indictments Fly Against Dallas Judge
