Power outage on Massachusetts Street blamed on a squirrel
A Massachusetts Street power outage, caused by a squirrel, disrupted about 200 customers and damaged Jefferson's Restaurant equipment. The outage, beginning after 7 p.m. Monday, left hood vent wiring fried and closed Jefferson's for days as Evergy crews repaired the line. Nearby Noodles & Company and other businesses were briefly affected but not closed long, with renovation and repairs ongoing. The KU Final Four game weeks ahead provided some optimism for reopening.

Kansas lawmakers move to redraw districts after census
The measure advances toward Gov. Laura Kelly with Republicans holding likely two thirds majorities to override a veto. Top Republicans drew the maps with bipartisan support in both chambers. The State Board of Education map draws attention, while Kelly notes the districts seem fair. If signed, the maps go to the Kansas Supreme Court for review.
